The HCG diet consists of taking the hormone HCG on a daily basis and sticking to a strict, 500-calorie diet. There are five phases to this diet, each of which is very different from the next. While you are going through each phase of the HCG diet, it is very important that you follow the diet exactly and eat only what is allowed.
The first phase of the HCG diet is the load days. During this phase you are supposed to eat as many fatty foods as possible. Since you will be starting the HCG, this might be more difficult of a task than you might think. Filling up on fatty foods during these two days will help you feel fuller through the beginning of the next phase.
The next phase of the HCG diet is the VLCD, or Very Low Calorie Diet, phase. This is the most restricted part of your HCG diet eating. Plan your meals out in advance, since you will have limited amount of foods to choose from throughout the day. This is the part of the diet where you lose weight rapidly.
Maintenance 1 and 2 are the next stages of the HCG diet. During Maintenance 1 you start incorporating more foods in your diet, but not sugar or starch. This is the time in the diet where you begin maintaining a healthy weight while adding other food to your daily diet. During Maintenance 2, you slowly begin adding sugar and starch to your diet, while still maintaining the same weight.
The last phase of the HCG diet is the Life phase. Now that you have gone through the whole HCG diet, you have reset your metabolism and will be able to eat normally while maintaining a healthy weight. You can do another round of the HCG diet if you wish.
By following the protocol exactly, you will be able to lose the weight you want during your HCG diet. In order to be successful it is important that you only eat what is allowed during each phase of the diet. Follow the protocol to ensure that you are losing as much weight as possible throughout your HCG diet!
